Engineer and naval officer, settled near Goulburn, 1839. He conducted surveys into railway construction in N.S.W. and in 1866 was member of a commission to report on the Sydney water supply, when he was the first person to suggest a dam on the Warragamba River. His daughter Annie married William Busby (1813-1887), pastoralist, son of John Busby, the engineer, and brother of James Busby. The donor, W.D. Donkin, was a grandson of this marriage.
